Fleet CO₂ Emissions Calculator

Work out your fleet's yearly carbon footprint in tonnes of CO₂e, and how much of it telematics could cut. Made for UAE Net Zero 2050 and the new climate-law fleet reporting.

FLEET CO2 CALCULATOR

How do you calculate a fleet's CO2 emissions?

Multiply the litres of fuel burned by the fuel's emission factor: 2.68 kg CO2e per litre of diesel or 2.31 kg CO2e per litre of petrol (DEFRA/IPCC combustion factors). A 25-van UAE delivery fleet driving 3,500 km per vehicle a month at 12 L/100km puts out roughly 338 tonnes of CO2e a year. GPS telematics usually cuts that by 13-18% through less idling, route optimisation and eco-driving coaching. That matters now that UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 11 of 2024 requires businesses to measure and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

How the numbers are calculated

Fuel-based calculation is the most accurate way to account for GHG when you know your fuel use. Every factor is standard, editable and sourced.

Estimates are for planning and awareness. For formal GHG disclosure under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 11 of 2024, use metered fuel data and confirm reporting scope with MOCCAE.

Fleet CO₂ Calculator FAQ

The calculator takes your fleet's monthly fuel use (distance × consumption per vehicle × number of vehicles) and multiplies it by standard combustion factors: 2.68 kg CO2e per litre of diesel and 2.31 kg CO2e per litre of petrol (DEFRA/IPCC). Corporate GHG reports use this same fuel-based method for Scope 1 emissions. If you know how much fuel you bought in total, nothing is more accurate.
Yes. The UAE's climate law, Federal Decree-Law No. 11 of 2024, came into force on 30 May 2025. It requires entities operating in the UAE to measure, report and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, and there are penalties if they don't. Fleet fuel counts as Scope 1 (direct) emissions, which is usually the biggest share for transport and logistics companies. Check the exact scope and thresholds for your business with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE).
GPS telematics usually cuts fleet fuel use, and so CO2, by 13-18%. Cutting excess idling saves around 7% (documented range 5-10%). Route optimisation saves around 6% (range 5-8%). Eco-driving coaching through driver behaviour monitoring adds around 5% (range 5-10%). Emissions rise and fall with litres burned, so each percent of fuel you save is a percent less CO2 and less money spent at the pump.
A 25-vehicle diesel van fleet driving 3,500 km per vehicle per month at 12 L/100km burns about 10,500 litres monthly, which is roughly 338 tonnes of CO2e per year — about 13.5 tonnes per van. A heavy truck fleet emits far more: one truck at 35 L/100km and 6,000 km per month produces about 67 tonnes of CO2e per year on its own.
